Life Lines: Open Studio Life Drawing

poster for exhibition featuring drawings of human figure

Facilitator: Scott McKowen

Life drawing has been a foundational practice for artists going back to the Renaissance, when artists realized that direct observation of the human body was the key to depicting figures. Drawing from a nude model is part of every art school curriculum. It’s easy to find drawing groups in most larger cities around the world, open to artists of every skill level, but they are rare in smaller towns.  Artists in Stratford have enjoyed regular weekly life drawing session for 50 years now, through Gallery Stratford’s Open Studio program. LIFE LINES is an exhibition of the work produced in our weekly three-hours life drawing sessions.
