HISTORY OF
THE GALLERY
At the Pump House
Gallery Stratford is one of Ontario’s longest operating public art galleries and has been a significant contributor to the cultural heart of South-western Ontario since 1967. Gallery Stratford’s mandate is to present changing exhibitions of contemporary visual art, with a focus on regional and Canadian Art, which strive to engage the public, create dialogue, and offer unique opportunities for education, exploration, and interactive learning.
Gallery Stratford is located in the city’s historic former pump house, just a five minute walk from Stratford’s Festival Theatre and the Avon River. It is surrounded by picturesque parkland with outdoor sculptures linked through a network of pathways. The gallery has three exhibition spaces, with three-month rotations.
Gallery Stratford is supported by the City of Stratford and through memberships and donations.
