Don’t miss Gallery Stratford’s famous, creative and hands-on summer arts program for your child! Gallery Stratford’s Arts Alive program offers drawing, mask making, animation, painting, sculpture, book making projects and much more. Our full-day and half-day programs help to stimulate creativity and build art-making skills.

2013 Programs include:

Budding Artists: This program is designed for our youngest artists combining play with hands on creative art projects. Children will experiment in many mediums including, painting, drawing and collage.

Character Inc.: Artist, Todd Mulligan is back for more fun with cartooning and illustration. Using line, shade and texture effectively, participants will enjoy creating
characters filled with interest, expression and movement.

Kinetic Art: By motor, wind, water or viewer powered, kinetic art depends on moving parts, motion or illusion to achieve results. Using both 2-D and 3-D techniques –
participants will be inspired to bring movement and motion to their art.

Adventures in Bookmaking: What do accordion, flag, popup and piano hinge all have in common? Come see for yourselves during a week of exploration in bookmaking. Participants will use cool new techniques along with boundless art materials to fold, cut and tie their way to one-of-a-kind books.

Creatures in Art: Whether sketched or sculpted, winged or walking, miniature or mammoth, factual or fiction - creatures of all kinds have played a prominent role in art. Inspired by history and imagination, participants will create creatures using painting, drawing and sculpting techniques.

Paper Studio: Working with just paper, our hands, a few tools and a lot of imagination – we will be creating some awesome art. Learn to design your own origami, 3D
paper-creations, rip-art, crazy paper airplanes, and more!

Mask Art: From the Carnival of Venice to the streets of Gotham City, masks have been donned throughout art, history and pop culture as a celebration of tradition or
simply as a way to hide ones identity (Hello Bruce Wayne). Participants will design, create and enjoy using a variety of mixed media materials to create expressive and unique masks.

Portrait Masters: Look out, Mona Lisa! Our portrait masters will be using a variety of art techniques such painting, drawing, collage, sculpting and printmaking to
create funny, fancy, free-form and fantastic faces during this class focusing on portraiture.

Animation: Participants will use their imagination and storytelling skills to create both 2D and 3D illusions of movement. From flipbooks to more sophisticated
animation techniques found in stop-motion and claymation, get ready to be amazed by animation!

*NEW* Arts Alive Academy – Ages 12-14: Whether you are an Arts Alive alumni or have discovered a love of art on your own – Arts Alive Academy is an ideal starting point for any youth interested in pursuing art at a more complex level. Creating both inside and outside the studio – participants will work in 2D and 3D mediums giving freedom for self-expression and personal exploration.
